This is the comfiest, coolest jacket ever. I got it in the Strip District (a big Pittsburgh outdoor market, basically) from an Ecuadorian vendor. It makes me happy :)

I also got a letter from Nicola a couple of weeks ago, but never posted it! One of my favorite mail packages ever, I think!

sorry for the lack of consistent updates. my internet has been out!

life updates:
1) My Christmas was absolutely fabulous. A bunch of family came over, and I got the iHome that I've wanted forever :)
2) I got my drivers license the day after Christmas! I can finally drive places! The proctor was really, really grumpy and it made me quite nervous, but I somehow managed to pass anyway. Parallel parking is nervewracking!
3) My college applications are almost done. Just one more, plus a scholarship essay. I see the light at the end of the tunnel!
4) It's 2010, which is my graduation year! I feel like, for my whole life, 2010 seemed so far away. All the graduating seniors were "class of '02" or '03, or '04. "10" seemed like forever away, but here it is already!
5) I'm 17 today!

i've officially finished applying to one of my schools, which is exciting. senior year is quite stressful, and seeing an "application submitted" screen is just so gratifying!

I got two awards from Nicola a while ago and never posted them! Thank you millions, I appreciate them so so so much.

YESTERDAY WAS HALLOWEEN!

It's a family tradition for my dad to take my siblings and me trick-or-treating, and it was my last year! A few friends came with us this year.

The costumes took FOREVERRRR (I'm the Almond Joy) but it was totally worth it, as I think they came out great!

Then we counted our candy in the basement and traded it and stuff. (Notice my OCD-ness)

Before Sunday, I was a honeycrisp virgin.

Sunday changed my life.

Yes, they really are as amazing as everyone says they are. And my goodness, they're HUGE!

You guys HAVE to try these. I think they're my new favorite food.
Too bad my local orchard only has them one week a year! :(

I got a fabulous award from Ruxandra!

This is one of my favorite awards I've ever received! It's so artsy and awesome. Here are my ten facts that I'm supposed to list:
1) I don't text all that often, at least for a teenage girl. I certainly could live without my phone.
2) I love volunteering, but for some reason I don't do it as much as I should. I guess I just don't make time.
3) I never ever eat fried food of any sort (french fries, fried chicken, etc), mostly because my mom just never makes it.
4) My iPod only has about 900 songs on it.
5) I absolutely love the song "We Are The World" because it was the first time I was introduced to Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper, two artists I now love.
6) I miss the days of polaroids. I still have my camera -- but no film is sold anymore :(
7) I love politics, but I try not to talk about it with most people because I've found that conflicting opinions often get in the way of great friendships.
8) I rarely go to the movie theater. Three times in a good year.
9) I've always wanted a summer job, but every year I procrastinate applying...until it's too late.
10) I'm a little scared to grow up, but at the same time I'm so unbelievably excited. It's going to be an exhilarating ride ;)

I snapped this quickly before going to Polo, a charity event that my mom chairs. It's basically a big polo match (yes, the guys on horses) with lots of food and fancy people. It's tradition to wear hats and dresses to polo matches, so here I am. My face looked ugly so I blacked it out.

I'm a senior in high school this year, and college applications are consuming my life! I have twelve schools I'm planning to apply to, and I can't seem to narrow it down! I have a question for all of you:
Do you attend college? If so, where? How many schools did you apply to?

And yesterday I got an amazing award from Ela! I feel so loved, guys. Thanks :)

I'm supposed to list 7 things about myself. I've done enough of these tags that you guys already know a lot of my quirks, but have no fear--I have more than enough quirks to list seven more!
1) My favorite foods are very random: turkey, applesauce, rice cakes, omelets, and oatmeal. I'd take any one of those over a home-cooked meal.
2) I have a fear that when I'm old my shins will be really leathery and spotty (like a lot of older womens'), so I constantly apply moisturizer.
3) I hate running with every fiber of my being. Seriously, it's the most miserable activity known to man.
4) I still don't know what I want to do with my life.
5) The only thing I do know is after college I'm going straight into the Peace Corps.
6) I love broccoli and carrots, but I despise cauliflower and asparagus.
7) I don't have a distinctive taste in music; I like tons of artists in different genres thanks to my friends (all with extremely varied tastes) who give me mix tapes. :)

the first day is adam day

Yesterday was my first day of senior year, and I felt like Adam deserved to dominate my first day of school outfit. You know, since I LOVE HIM and all.

I even Adamized my binder: (the picture turned out even more pixely than usual)

Except I might take him off my binder because I'm sick of answering tons of questions from people who don't really watch the show or know about him.

"Who's that guy on your binder?"

"The most amazing singer ever."

I went to the American Idol Concert last Saturday, and I unfortunately never got around to posting about it! Thus I'm combining it with my first day of school post, since it's so perfectly related :)

So sit back, ladies and gentlemen, and enjoy a short photo journal of my concert experience. (and yes, in the second to last picture it's MY NOSE in the same picture as Adam.)

WE HAD A CONVERSATION, ADAM AND ME!
He was going through really really fast just signing autographs, so I decided to actually say something besides "OMG I LOVE YOU" like the other screaming girls, haha.

Me: "Can I have a hug?" *puppy dog eyes*
Him: "Aw, will this work?" *touches my arm*
Me: [speechless] "uhh yes! thanks!" *starstruck*
Him: "Here's another one. That's your hug" *amazing signature Adam smile and wink*

I was on a complete natural high for the next four days. I love him.

I got my wisdom teeth out last week! Weirdly enough, I've had pretty much zero problems at all. My face is not swollen, I can still talk perfectly normally and I haven't taken any pain medicine. I even babysat the day afterward. Life is relatively good :)

I got this vest at Goodwill and I love it a lot. I had to sew it to make it smaller though, cause it was huuuge. :o Actually I sewed the shorts too, they used to be long and ugly.

While sorting through my closet all day playing dress-up, I found this skirt I bought a few years ago and never wore. It's pretty short, but I love it anyway. It makes my legs look longer, I think. It also matches my room.

Also, I'm COMPLETELY OBSESSED with these shoes. I WANT THEM.

(credit lookbook) The girl who posted them listed them as "Scorett" boots, but apparently it's a Swedish company. Darn. Chloe also makes some very similar ones. If only I could afford uberexpensive shoes. They probably don't make them in my size anyway. *sigh*

The wonderful people at Sussex Jewelers sent me this fantastic ring, and I love it! It comes in sizes 6/7/8 but my fingers are huge and my ring finger is a 9 or 10, so I had to make it a size 6 pinky-ring. I think it's absolutely gorgeous, and it's definitely gonna be one of my staple pieces next year! I've showed it to my parents, their friends, my friends...people of all ages, and they all love it as well! You should check out their site, they have some other amazing stuff too.

In other news, I got a 5 on my A.P. US History test! YESSSSS :) All the work paid off, I'm absolutely ecstatic.

I heard this song once on the radio and always wondered what it was. I finally found it, it's called Hallelujah by Martin Sexton. It's a beautiful song, so take a listen! I couldn't find a very good version on Youtube, so if you want to hear how it's really supposed to sound (AMAZING) try iTunes :)

This award requires the blogger to list 7 interesting things about herself and then pass the award on to 7 other "kreativ bloggers." Alrighty!

1) I collect hotel cards. A weird hobby I guess, but it's easy cause I can knock out two birds with one stone -- traveling and hotel-card-collecting!

2) I have an obsession with sugar cereal. I'm a health nut most of the time, but my sweet tooth never fails to kick in for Froot Loops.

3) I drink exactly one gallon of water a day. I relabeled an old milk carton and washed it out, and every morning I fill it up and finish it by the end of the day. And yes, I drink right out of the container.

4) I'm a grammar freak. Every year I go through my school's yearbook and put tabs everywhere I find a grammar or spelling mistake. There are generally lots (I didn't even go through the whole thing this year, and look at the picture below!) It makes me think that maybe someday I should be a newspaper editor.

5) I paint shoes, but you already knew that. This is my favorite pair, and they're really worn out. Comfiest things ever, and I wear them basically everywhere. I also have huge feet (these are a size 11 MEN'S. I generally wear a size 12 women's.)

6) I went to the Scripps National Spelling Bee (the one on TV every May). I was in 8th grade, and it was awesome! TONS of work though. I tied for 45th out of 285 kids, and I worked really hard to achieve that. You should've seen how much some of the top placers worked, though--those kids literally memorize the dictionary. This picture of me is lovely, really.

7) My favorite bag I own is the Capri-Sun bag I made (also pictured is my Tootsie-Roll-wrapper-wallet.)

I love Nicola, seriously. Her packages are the best ever :)
Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES getting mail? For me, there's no feeling in the world exactly like it. The excitement to rip open the envelope really raises my adrenaline or something, haha. It beats e-mail by a country mile.

Last week I went to Track & Field daycamp with my cousin. It was supposed to be for 6-15 year olds, but I snuck in anyway by convincing the administrator that I was a terrible runner, which I am. We were absolutely horrendous at everything (except shotput! I set the camp record for shotput!), but it was fun and kept us in shape, which was the goal.

What else have I been up to? Well, I've got two lovely books to read for Advanced Placement English next year, one of which I started last week. It's called East of Eden by John Steinbeck, and it's 600 pages. It's alright so far, but I'm only 1/3 of the way finished!

On a sad note, my sunglasses broke last week :( Luckily they were just cheap ones, though the fact that I can't seem to take care of sunglasses makes me rethink my upcoming Wayfarer purchase :/

I just recently discovered etsy, a site where people sell things they make homemade. I spent two full hours looking through all the amazing wares then came to a realization;

I DIY things! I could do this!

So my new project is to set up an Etsy shop, probably selling shoes (though I'm not sure; I love all things DIY!)

my Poem uses kooky comparisons,
juxtapositions quite out of the ordinary.
i speak of slanderous sassafras,
blasphemous boysenberries,
and canteloupes oh-so-cantankerous!

my Poem includes bunches of doodads--
(parentheses here,) an ellipsis there…
a line change where it doesn’t make
sense at all.

my Poem includes stanzas of all different lengths
--6 lines, 5 lines, 8 lines--
and i sprinkle punctuation like cheese on homemade pizza.

why?

because i am a rebel, and
my Poem defies convention.

This poem has been my favorite since we studied it in 7th grade. I'm not sure why. I just really like structured rhyming poems that don't sound corny. That's a pretty impressive feat.

Reality TV is such a strange idea. Why on earth do people enjoy watching average people make fools of themselves?
I, for one, am absolutely addicted to it. I need Project Runway back in my life, and currently it's American Idol and America's Next Top Model that are stealing my life away from me. I'm in love with these two people:

Adam not only is a fantastic singer, but I think he's quite sexy as well. [He needs to lay off the makeup though. His Motown look was great!] What did you guys think of his Ring of Fire? A lot of people apparently hated it, but I thought it was amazing! Even better was Tracks of My Tears. He looked like the long-lost son of Chris Isaak (or even Elvis!) and his voice just blows me away. That's an understatement. The sky is the limit for Adam :)

More Allison! This girl is SOCOOL. Really creepy and weird, but cool. [I love her eyes. Except I think she needs to learn how to do something other than the doe-eyed stare or she's going to get kicked off.]

I made this headband forever ago and never posted it! I get complements every time I wear it, along with a lot of weird glances and quotes like "Do you have legos in your hair?!". Props to The Wandering Alchemist for the original. I just copied hers =)

Also, Marc Jacobs did some stuff with Legos accessories in his 2008 Spring show.

Every time I go to the doctors I always, always take one of the stickers meant for little children. I think I'm in denial about the fact that I have to get older. I'm still a little kid.

These past few days in school we have been doing scheduling for next year. I'm going to be a SENIOR! :O Wow, the years go by quickly. I remember the first day of first grade like it was yesterday.

You know what really bugs me? When people take certain classes and don't take certain others just because of their QPAs. If you want to take orchestra even though it's not an honors class, gosh darn it you should take orchestra. It's the same concept as people choosing jobs just for the money. I guess it's up to them, so I'll just worry about me. I want my life to feel fulfilling at the end, like I did something I really loved. On a smaller scale, when I graduate high school, I want to feel like I learned a lot about stuff I really had a passion for and enjoyed.

For the past three weeks, I've been busy working on the Stage Crew for our high school musical Beauty and the Beast. Sunday was our final performance, and I can honestly say it was the best non-professional production I have ever seen. Nobody does musicals like our school! (Though it helps having a HUGE budget!)

The set was SO PRETTY. And the girl who played Belle was very very sweet, and had an amazing voice.

Musical is definitely going to leave a void in my heart. (Soon to be filled by SLEEP!)

I went to a charity function a couple of weeks ago, and they had the BEST FOOD. Chefs from all over Pittsburgh catered it. Here was my plate of dessert:

Most people wore prom-esque gowns (they probably just used their dresses from last year), but I felt like going a different route.

Also a recent event: I went to Harvard for a debate tournament! I don't have any super notable photos to show you, except it seems like everyone's going green these days. I found these signs humorous.

I went to my little brother's 3rd grade orchestra concert the other day. The music was absolutely awful, but they were all so cute. I went to snap a picture of my brother:

I'm actually going to post outfits today! [surprise!] Granted, they're really boring outfits that I pretty much threw on. But they're outfits none the less!
I'm still a fatty in case you're wondering (I haven't gotten around to that New Year's Resolution yet. Oops.)

Lately, I've been pretty infatuated with:
a) scarves
b) stealing my fathers shirts.
Both of the following outfits include both of these items.

(I look really unhappy in this one because I was late and I snapped this really quickly before I left to catch my bus, which I ended up missing.)

By the way, I think something's wrong with me: I do homework a lot longer than most people. This is me doing homework at 1:30 AM by the light of my mini desklamp:

My trip was FANTASTIC! I realize it's impossible to experience New York fully in a MONTH, let alone a weekend, but it was absolutely amazing nonetheless. I lost my wallet at one point, but our hotel found it. [phew!] So you know, this post is absolutely picture obese, so I made the pictures a little smaller.

By the way, if you ever go to New York in the winter, make SURE you have a black peacoat/trench coat. It's practically a uniform there, and you knew right away when someone was a tourist because they were in bright colors. All New Yorkers also all wear really cool scarfs. I'm making a note for next time.

Part Un: THE DRIVE

Description: It took about 6.5 hours and was very long and boring--until we got to NYC! First we saw the Newark, NJ skyline and thought it was NYC, and it was SO SMALL. We were very disappointed until we saw the real thing!!

Part Deux: THE HOTEL

Description: We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park!! It was absolutely fantastic, and, as you'll see later, the customer service is phenomenal! :]

Part Trois: UPTOWN MANHATTAN

Description: We took the subway up to Uptown Manhattan with the original intent to go to the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) since it was free-entrance night. However, when we arrived the line was the longest thing I've ever seen! It was completely wrapped around TWO NEW YORK BLOCKS! There must have been 5000 people there, probably more. It was NUTS. So we went to Rockefeller Center and went shopping, and came back to the MOMA later.

Oh, and by the way, Anthropologie has got to be the coolest store ever. I had never been in it before, and boy was it amazing! I almost got a beautiful navy coat there, but unfortunately it was one size too small. =[

Part Quatre: TIMES SQUARE

Description: This is a pretty unnecessary section, cause Times Square is basically IN Upper Manhattan. There's just one really cool picture I want to show you. I realize it's extremely blurry, but IT'S THE WALL KENLEY TOOK A PICTURE OF FOR PROJECT RUNWAY!!! It was pretty exciting to see it. Sad thing is, I don't remember at all what Kenley's outfit/dress looked like that was supposed to be based on it. =/

Part Cinq: STATUE OF LIBERTY/ELLIS ISLAND

Description: We woke up really early because the lines get SO LONG later in the day. After going through immense security, we took a ferry first to Liberty Island, and then Ellis Island. :]

Part Six: THE LUNCH OF AMAZINGNESS

Description: The Ritz gave us a completely free lunch at the Ritz Café just because it was my birthday! And this wasn't just any café. Have you guys seen Top Chef? This was exactly like Top Chef. You should've seen my cousin's crab cake--it was like a work of art! All the entrees were like $30 and we all got a free appetizer and entree! Yum. They even brought me dessert at the end! (we shared though, I didn't eat ALL of it!)

Part Sept: CHINATOWN/LITTLE ITALY

Description: Such cute shops! Some things were very strange, but everything was so interesting and different. Note: no pictures from Little Italy. Though it was quaint, nothing was aesthetically interesting enough to warrant a blog picture.

Overall, it was the best trip of my life!

See, I was starting to feel kind of guilty when people would ask me "omgzzz what are you doing for your sweet 16?!?!?!" and I would always just say "Oh, nothing. I'm not really a party person." Well, let me tell ya, this was SO MUCH BETTER.

I'M GOING TO NEW YORK CITY!!!
My parents surprised me with this wonderful gift! Apparently my whole family has known for quite some time, and they all managed to not spill the beans!
My cousin is coming with us. Trust me, there will be PLENTY of pictures when I get back!! =D
GUYS: WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?! Unfortunately, it's super cold there right now, so no matter what I wear, it will likely be covered by my big blue ski jacket. Darn.

The story: I was at the beach this past summer with my family and my friend Melissa (far left), and we decided that instead of making a sand castle (booooooring!), we would make an irrigation system! The waves came in and filled in all the tunnels. It was really cool.

A new year is almost here! New opportunities, new challenges, new people. I love fresh starts.

I really shouldn't be posting because I have a ton of things to do today, but hey--New Years' only comes once a year! Oh, and New Years Day is my birthday, so I deserve to be able to slack off a little. ;]

I've compiled a list of New Years Resolutions for this year:::
1) Be a little less OCD, as hard as it is for me.
2) Have more will power with food. Lose weight. Get skinny.
3) Be more social and friendly with people. Sometimes I tend to clam up.
4) Learn how to dance. Let loose, and get comfortable with looking silly! [I HATE dance floors. They make me really self-conscious and nervous.]
5) Pay more attention to the things around me. Stop and smell the roses! Now that I have my DIGITAL CAMERA [yesssss finally] I'm going to start taking pictures of everything!

i love christmas morning.
i got lots of socks [I LOVE SOCKS] and hairbrushes and random things. i also got some attractive articles of clothing [aka SWEET CLOTHES] and a digital camera! except I don't like the digital camera [it's fat and not very cute. that's all i'm looking for in a camera -- cute and compact!] so i'm exchanging it. still though, good stuff!

on the negative side, i did NOT get the boy i like for christmas. why? apparently, HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND. [and not even a pretty one!] BLARGHHHHHHHH
sorry i've been ranting so much lately about this. i hate to sound like an obsessed teenager, but it has kind of consumed my mind. =/

Today was the last day of school before winter break, and I'm a bit mad at myself, in regards to the boy I told you about earlier. We've had a study hall in orchestra these past two days and I played cards with my friends. The whole time, though, I was watching what he was doing, and he would sit in a circle with his friends, but he never really talked. He was really really quiet (as usual) and kind of by himself, occasionally listening to the conversation. I was going to go up to him and talk to him (since he looked rather bored) but I realized I HAD NOTHING TO SAY! Honestly, if he rarely talks to his friends, imagine how awkward a conversation would be with a complete stranger like me!!

Sigh. So now I get two full weeks to think about it, not seeing him. If school didn't have homework, I would LOVE school. I'm kind of sad it's over for a while--it's my excuse to get dressed up and do my hair nicely every day. Without it, I feel like a bum!

I'm making this a post devoted to everything I've done lately related to Christmas! Sorry about the horrible photo quality. [I told you, I'm getting a camera soon! (I hope!)]

1) We got & decorated our Christmas tree!!

2) I made a gingerbread train with my sister (yum!)

3) We sent out Christmas cards as a family. Here's the picture that was on the front (I look awful, but whatever.) Aren't the chairs awesome?! They match my shoes =P

4) My mom had a Christmas party for my dad's office staff. The party was boring and adult-y, but the cake was delicious! (Those white mints with the sprinkles in front of it are really good too!)

5) We went to the Christmas parade in downtown Pittsburgh! Aren't my snowboots (&hair!) attractive =P It was sooooooo cold!

6)I haven't bought anyone anything. Oops. Guess I'll have to go Christmas Eve! =0

So you wanna know the real reason I haven't been on here in two months? There are three:
1) I'm super busy. [read: AP US History consumes my life.]
2) My mother's digital camera is a bitch, and it takes FOREVERRR to upload the pictures from it. I'm planning on buying myself one for Christmas, but I'm trying to figure out when they'll be cheapest: now, right before Christmas, right after, or like in January. Any thoughts?
3) This is probably going to sound really whiney and annoying, but I've felt really fat lately and I'm tired of seeing my fat self on my blog. So, until I get skinny [hah, i've been telling myself that for the last two years] there won't exactly be an abundance of pictures of me.

WELL. I hate to be materialistic, but I have a Christmas wishlist, which I made into a little collage:

SO. News in my life:
I need advice. There's this super cute boy in my Orchestra class (he's a viola too!), and I've neeever been good with boys AT ALL. Basically, my romantic social skills = zero. I'm not sure he even knows I exist (there are 60 people in the class) and I want him to notice me, but I'm scared to talk to him! Arghhhh. He's a senior, and he's just so freaking attractive. Haha it's intimidating. It would be weird if, since it's already halfway through the year, I just went up to him and was like "Hi. I'm Sophia. Nice to meet you." I don't know what to do =/ I'm hoping somehow next time we switch seats I'm stand-partners with him! Wishful thinking though, because he's really good and is almost always like third chair. Grr. Anyhow, help me!!

I got another really awesome award from Inside the Cabinet of Wonder, but I'm going to wait until next post to accept it and pass it on, since this post is pretty long already!

Halloween = My Favorite Holiday

…almost. I mean, nothing beats Christmas, but Halloween is pretty awesome, and it's in 10 days!!! I've had Monster Mash stuck in my head all day, haha.
I haven't skipped a year trick-or-treating since I was two years old, and I'm still going strong =] I've never, EVER bought a Halloween costume – I always make mine.

Let's count down my Halloween costumes the past few years…
--4^th Grade (I think): a raisin with my sister. We wore black turtlenecks and pants and then put big garbage bags over us, painted our faces black, and carried around a box of Raisin Bran all night. It was so funny.
--8^th Grade: a dartboard

--9^th Grade: a pirate
--10^th Grade: Mr. Monopoly man (Sylvia was a monopoly board, and it was the sweetest thing EVER. This isn't a very good picture of it, but here:

--THIS YEAR: a letter. As in, a postal letter. (Sylvia wants to be a mailbox. Any ideas on how to pull that off???)

1. School school school.

2. Thrifting! [Well, not really a guilty pleasure. But I think it's fun, and my mother despises it. She yells at me every time I bring something home!!]
3. Loving old cheesy 80s and 90s music. [I'm agreeing with Demi on this one!! Take On Me by a-ha is my favorite!!]
4. Candy corn. I eat SO MUCH of it! It's the one junk food that I just can't resist!

4 random facts about me:
1. I'm very curious about everything, especially vocab. When I see a new word, I have to look it up immediately. It's compulsive!
2. I'm really bad at writing. I just took the SAT's on Saturday, and all went well except the essay which I BOMBED.
3. I'm the youngest person in my grade, almost -- I'm 15, but I'm a junior!
4. I don't have a favorite kind of music; I just like turning on the radio and listening to different types. I take that back though, I am a bit partial to Classical-Rock [look up Cellofourte!!]

Color clash?

**my bad for not explaining this one. Whenever my face looks really stupid in pictures, I just blur them, haha.

Blazer: Sears, Skirt: ?, Necklace: f21, Shoes: ?

Color clash?...or no? My mother was all "that doesn't match at all. Why on earth would you wear that jacket with that skirt?" Sigh. Maybe I'm just crazy. I wore this with black tights, not shown.

I'm kind of in a style rut. And I want some chunky black heels in the WORST WAY. =[

These jeans makes me look short and fat. I hate flared jeans, but these are just so darn comfy, i couldn't resist wearing them. I'm going to my grandma's today, for pete's sake, so who really cares?

I was at my friend Tim's birthday party today. Tim wants to be a fashion designer, and he seriously got 9283746 fashion books as presents. I started reading one in particular ...

Nina Garcia! Project Runway! Basically my life! [almost.]

It really inspired me to, as Nina says, "edit my wardrobe to what looks good and makes me feel good." So, I just spend the last half hour throwing out all my clothes. Or, at least, 70% of them.

What Sophia needs to complete her now-bare wardrobe:
1) A TRENCH COAT.
2) basic tshirts in black and white[my old ones were getting pilly.]
3) to go to a flea market! I've never been to one, and I've heard you can get some interesting stuff!
4) A tshirt bra
5) Some basic loose dresses
6) Fun, funkier heels [I just started learning to walk in them, haha]
7) Cool pieces [jumpsuits, overalls, vests, etc.]
8) A pair of heeled black OXFORDS!
9) to shop at Topshop [online, of course, since I live in freaking Pennsylvania, in which there is no fashion, let alone a Topshop]
10) MONEY. =/

Skirt or Dress?

Blazer: Sears, Skirt worn as a dress: gift, Shoes: Marshalls
1) It is very hard to find things that match a bright aqua blazer. Black and white are pretty much it.
2) This dress is actually a skirt, but it's really long and ugly. It made me feel like a cross between a boho person and an amish person, so I decided to wear it as a dress instead =]
3) Apologies for a) these pictures taking place in my bathroom, and b) the stoic expression on my face. I'm having an off day.
4) Accessory ideas for this outfit??

Oh my goodness, sorry it's been so long! I tell myself every single day that I'm going to update my blog when I get home from school, and it just never happens!

Anyhow, hopefully an outfit post tomorrow. As for today, I made myself a new desktop. What sort of desktop? BEAUTIFUL MEN, of course! Maybe I have weird taste in guys [you can tell me, I won't be offended], but here's some lovely eye candy for you. My 6 unspectactular quirks.
1) Belly buttons really gross me out. Even just hearing the term makes me shudder. [same goes for wrists! Yuck, so veiny.]
2) I love watching Arthur. Every single day, I come home from school, and even if I have a TON of homework [pretty much every night] I sit down and watch an episode of Arthur on my DVR. I've been doing that since pretty much 2nd grade! It's the best show ever. Seriously.
3) I love lists, and I'm extremely OCD. I get the biggest thrill out of crossing something off a list. It's absolutely bizarre.
4) I've always wanted a pet bird, so I could teach it how to talk.
5) I'm crazy optimistic. I think I annoy people with it =/
6) After almost everything I say, I whisper it back to myself, sometimes in my head, sometimes out loud. I don't do it on purpose, it just happens.

Wow, after reading those, I think I may need psychiatric help!

My homework finally let up for the first time in two weeks! I've been drowning in AP US History readings, hence the lack of posts. This is a super simple outfit, so ... whatever. I look awful in these pictures, by the way. I haven't made effort on my hair in weeks! I WENT THRIFTING! I WENT THRIFTING! I WENT THRIFTING!...for the first time ever! There's a Goodwill NEXT DOOR to my school this year, so I just walked over after school last week. I'm gonna try and go again tomorrow. Anyhow, that's where I picked up this lovely Ralph Lauren men's shirt. In addition to that, I got a high-waisted black pencil skirt, a J.Crew Chino miniskirt with turtles on it, a lovely turquoise pendant, and a pinstripe blazer; ALL FOR 24.99! I love thrifting. =]

Craft Time!

I was very bored last week, and here are some creations that I haven't showed you yet =]
There are three pairs of shoes, and one belt.

Pair #1: for my cousin

Pair #2: for my little sister (I actually drew hearts all around the hippo, but I took these pictures beforehand, and I'm too lazy to go take another one. Also, the shoes have laces that I haven't put back in yet!)

Pair #3: for my little brother

Lastly, a belt I made. I bought an ugly belt at Rue21 for $1, and then I covered it with the Sunday comics. I wish the colors were more vivid, though. Oh, and sorry I couldn't get a picture of the whole belt. When I zoomed out that far, you couldn't see the details.

First Day [woohoo!]

Okay, here's my first day of school outfit, because tomorrow's the first day of school. I know, it's nothing mind-blowingly fashionable, but it's nice and simple for the first day, I think. I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard.

Shirt closed or open? That is the question. Opinions? [also, should I wear my belt at my waist or more at my hips? Hmmm.]

The Sartorialist

Today I stumbled upon the blog The Sartorialist. WHERE HAS THIS BLOG BEEN MY WHOLE LIFE?! This man takes photos of people on the streets all around the world, and posts them for fashion inspiration!

Two photos that particularly inspired me:

The woman from Stockholm is just so effortlessly chic! I want to be her. Plus, her haircut rocks. I wish I could pull off short hair. =/
As for the redhead, well, he may not be fashion inspiration, but he's just absolutely breathtaking. In case anyone cares, he's a model. His portfolio can be found here.

A Formal Introduction

I've already posted twice on this blog, and in all the excitement, I forgot to introduce myself!

I'm Sophia. I'm from Pennsylvania, I'm fifteen, and I'll be a junior in high school this year [yes!]

Yesterday my family went to my cousin Mariah's house to celebrate my grandma's birthday. Mariah, unfortunately, lives in the middle of NOWHERE, but the scenery is really beautiful. We all took a walk to a nearby bridge and threw rocks over the edge.

Wish Upon A Star

I was going to do my very first outfit post today, but my little sister [aka photographer] wasn't home. So, I figured I'd take this opportunity to share my wishlist with you.

1) A plaid skirt
Oh how I want a plaid miniskirt [but not too mini!] but I can't find the perfect one anywhere! If anyone knows where I can find a good one, let me know!

2) A peacoat
I am embarrassed to say that I do not own a peacoat, a trench, a leather jacket, or any other sort of fashionable outerwear. I want a peacoat, though, in the worst way.

3) More blazers
A girl can never have too many blazers. I don't have enough!

4) To go thrifting
I have never been thrifting before, in my whole life! My OCD mother thinks it's absolutely disgusting to wear a stranger's old clothing, but luckily there's a thrift store right next to the senior high school, which I will be at this year! I'll just go right after school on the first day!

5) More skirts in general
I mentioned a plaid skirt specifically, but also other skirts. I'm low in the skirt department.

Jewelry Hanger

This past week, I realized that my jewelry was a MESS. It's been lying all over my dresser for ages. So after thinking for a while, I came up with this lovely contraption! It's just a hanger glued to cardboard covered with black fabric. Then, I glued string across to hang my earrings from. I also used black thumbtacks to hang the necklaces from. Unfortunately, I ran out of thumbtacks, so I couldn't finish it. [hence all the jewelry is hanging on ONE HALF of the hanger.]
