sharpening my sewing skills

I got this vest at Goodwill and I love it a lot. I had to sew it to make it smaller though, cause it was huuuge. :o Actually I sewed the shorts too, they used to be long and ugly.
The bag came from Chinatown when I was in NYC in January. Eight bucks, man :)

------
I have a question: in your opinion, what goes into a great mix tape? I'm making one for a friend, and I don't think I'm much good at it. Do you see it as an art? Any tips for me? Leave them in the comments :)

and your shoes in the poat below are amazing! you should set up a business!!! :) very very arty!!! i like them.

hmm mix tapes. well maybe you should start with songs that remind you of them, or times you have spent together. not sure, just where i might start with ideas.

hope you are well my dear!!
peace to you.

Nice sewing! Haha, I suck at sewing. I actually have a vest that's way too big for me that I just tie in the back. I should get around to fixing it...

Cute bag!

Ahh a mixed tape!
I say chasing cars by snow patrol and speeding cars by Imogen Heap!

I don;t know what's with me and cars but they're amazing songs :)

wow this is awesome :)

mix tapes are wicked, i usually make mine totally random, lots of different genres but i try make sure each song would be something they'd like.
it's fun when you're listening to a mix and you have no idea what type of thing will come next.

I really like that vest!

As far as the mix tape goes...I normally just try and put songs into them that have a meaning. Like if you have a song that makes you think of your friend, throw it in there cause odds are it'll brighten his/her day!

Good luck :)

I'm so new to thrifting and I can't sew very well. I went to goodwill recently looking for some denim I could cut into the perfect pair of shorts... no luck.
The vest is cool though! I love the bag too! Way to go!

I love being able to fix your things from thrift stores, it really makes them your own. I also love your foot shoes below.

Check out the kitsunenoir.com mixtapes to get an idea I think. Theres a mixtape called Teen Creep that I cannot stop listening to.

hehe, the bag adds an interesting touch to your outfit.

When I do mix tapes, I usually consider the playlist as a whole and make sure it sounds unified. Kind of like a story, with a rising action and climax and all. :)

I would have to say ABSOLUTELY, making a great mixed tape is an art. I think in order to make a really fantastic one, the order of the songs is really crucial. It's so nice to listen to a mixed tape all the way through that just flows really perfectly, sometimes more upbeat and then flowing gradually into something slower, and maybe picking back up again depending on the mood you're going for.

... Sorry. I'm minorly obsessed with making mixed tapes.
